A Kodama is an NPC found in Nioh 2. By finding a Kodama and taking them to the Shrine, Kodama Blessing is available in an area.

A Kodama is thought to be a tree spirit that transformed upon coming into contact with human tools that have been lovingly used for great periods of time. While the tree spirits are deeply connected to the gods who govern this earth, they are largely emotionless beings. A Kodama, on the other hand, brims with curiosity, much like an innocent child. It tends to grow attached to the human tool that gave it new life, and will not part with it willingly. Some even say that the yokai is not the tree spirit, but the tool itself.
Driven by its curiosity, the Kodama finds its way into many unusual places. However, perhaps due to its arboreal origins, it has a poor sense of both direction and distance, and often loses its bearings. If you ever chance upon a disoriented Kodama in your travels, direct it to the nearest shrine -- a Kodama never forgets its debts, and its deep connections to the gods will surely pay off eventually.
Function[]
Kodama are a type of collectible that are found in main missions and a few sub missions. They are hidden throughout the stage, hiding behind destructible objects or in out-of-the-way passages. Interact with a Kodama to send it to a shrine. Kodama will withdraw if an enemy approaches or they are attacked. Each Kodama collected will unlock and increase the effects of Kodama Blessings. There are 25 Kodama in each chapter, totaling 125 before DLC and 225 with all DLC, with the exception of Afterglow, which has none. Collected Kodama do not carry over between chapters, and upon starting a new chapter, you will have to collect them again.
